When it all becomes worth it, the private musings of an Artist's wife!

Updated: Mar 4, 2022

Being the wife of an exhibiting artist can sometimes be a thankless task! you have to have bottomless enthusiasm and energy to keep the project on the right rails and to keep it moving forward during those dark days when nothing is going right , all the photography and film are suddenly in the wrong format, no one is answering your calls but screaming when you don't answer theirs! and you are so darned tired from working 14 hour days that you simply can't think straight and you are having yet another supper of beans on toast at 10 p.m.

The poor dogs are googling pet re-homing sites as they think that they have been abandoned and the cat has taken to screaming on the Studio Steps as she has realised that this is the only way she will get fed!

Then the opening day is suddenly here and the work is up, lit beautifully by the Bowes Museum professionals, the videos have suddenly decided that they are in fact in the right format and it all suddenly seems worth it .

Last Friday we had the best ever Preview night , we met competition winners from the Open Call for Painting and for Poetry and we were so honoured to be part of their 'moment' .

To be able to share a love for all things creative is the best reward , to see people smile and want to talk about art with like minded others is magical.

Thankyou from the bottom of my heart to all our friends, family , supporters , students new and old for all your love and support for making Regeneration a "powerful take on the year that time stood still" I hope that as many of you as possible can make the journey to experience the show from now until it closes on 25th April .
