Advanced Oils Summer School

Advanced Oils is a great online program, however with specialist mediums in person tuition showing you how to handle them on the brush matters.

Using the intonaco method,( which has not yet been taught on AO), Martin will demonstrate the use of long grounds, the traditional intonaco method and how that can be used with the resins, calcites, bodied oils and waxes Advanced Oils students are familiar with from their Turner and Monet studies.

As well as creating an intonaco study to try out the method, Advanced Oil students (only) are invited to bring in either their finished Turner, (project 1) or Monet (project 4) for a group critique of their use of optical media.

The short courses run over an afternoon, a full painting day and the following morning to minimise accommodation costs and make it as easy as possible to attend. Course days run from 1pm - 4.30 pm day one. 10am - 4.30 pm day two ( includes one hour lunch break) and 10am to 1pm day 3.

Course days will begin punctually but may be extended slightly to ensure good learning outcomes, please make us aware if you plan to leave punctually. Unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control, there is no out of hours access to the painting studios.
